Turkey’s Addis Ababa Ambassador Yaprak Alp, TIKA Ethiopia Program Coordinator Cengiz Polat and Ethiopian officials attended the inauguration of the health center in the capital Addis Ababa, which serves security personnel and detainees.
TIKA, which renovated and furnished the health center building, also provided support for many medical equipment such as autoclaves, microscopes, stretchers, examination beds and centrifuges.
Speaking at the opening, TIKA Ethiopia Program Coordinator Polat stated that TIKA celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022 and said that the office in Addis Ababa is TIKA’s first office in Africa. Noting that TIKA has implemented nearly 200 projects in the country since 2005, Polat said that in 2016, medical supplies, crutches and wheelchairs were supplied to hospitals in Afar and Tigray provinces.
Polat said, “We are touching the lives of people by equipping the health center, which is trying to serve under difficult conditions, with the most modern medical devices and equipment. We increase the quality of service. We want to put a smile on people’s faces by ensuring that this health center, which serves nearly 3 thousand people, provides better conditions.”
